DESCRIPTION:Learn About Montezuma Carbon Capture & Storage\n\n\nREGISTER HERE.\n\nCarbon Dumping may be coming to the Bay Area\, especially refinery communities.  If you aren’t sure what that is\, you are not alone.   Another name for it is Carbon Capture and Storage.  That sounds good at first glance.  Who doesn’t want to get rid of the CO2 that is driving climate chaos?  But did you know it has never worked?  Did you know  permanent storage may be for as little as 50 years? Did you know that a leak can be FATAL?   YIKES! \n\n \nVictoria Bogdan Tejeda\, Staff Attorney with the Center for Biological Diversity\, will talk about the proposed Contra Costa and Solano Montezuma Carbon Capture and Storage project that proposes to collect CO2 from four Bay Area refineries (Chevron\, Valero\, PBF and Marathon)\, two hydrogen plants\, and four fossil gas-fueled power plants\, and run the compressed carbon dioxide (CO2) via barges and pipeline under Suisun Bay to the injection site under the 3\,200 acre Montezuma wetlands. \n \nVictoria works as part of the Center for Biological Diversity’s Climate Law Institute to fight false climate solutions such as carbon capture and storage\, as well as polluting industries involved with petrochemicals and biomass energy. In addition to her work on the Montezuma project\, she is a participant in the lawsuit against Contra Costa County for approving the EIRs for the Phillips 66 and Marathon refineries conversion to biofuel production. \n\n \nREGISTER HERE.
