A third-generation Californian, Susan Adams’ commitment to the quality of life in the Bay Area goes far beyond her enjoyment of winemaking and swing dancing. From 2005 through 2020, Susan worked as a staff attorney for the Bay Area Air District, helping communities adversely impacted by poor air quality resulting from oil refineries and other activities that release air contaminants. She led enforcement actions against polluters for air-quality violations and took the lead on drafting regulations to reduce or eliminate air contamination and improve air quality.

That experience gives Susan a keen perspective on what can and needs to be done to ensure that Fairfax, her home since 2007, moves swiftly toward renewable energy and away from dependence on fossil fuels.

For instance, she supports the installation of the town’s solar microgrid project after determination of the best technology for moving forward. She wants to widen the availability of electric charging stations at residences, workplaces, and public sites as well as affordable measures to transition from gas furnaces and stoves to more sustainable electric options. She opposes the construction of data centers in Fairfax or anywhere in Marin County. 

Susan describes Fairfax as “a vibrant and welcoming community, and an environmental gift.” Running for a seat on the Fairfax Town Council, she aims to keep it that way.
