Daria Wrubel is running for Berkeley City Council to champion a future where environmental justice and sustainable growth go hand in hand. As an educator, therapist, and organizer, Daria brings a deeply human-centered approach to local governance, rooted in the belief that a city’s strength lies in the voices of its people.

Daria’s commitment to our planet is backed by a clear track record of advocacy and community organizing. She has consistently worked to amplify the needs of those most impacted by environmental inequities, focusing on creating a Berkeley that is both resilient and inclusive. Her experience as an organizer allows her to bridge the gap between grassroots activism and policy implementation, ensuring that climate action is never sidelined in the pursuit of growth.

Daria’s vision for Berkeley focuses on tackling transportation—the city’s largest source of carbon emissions. She plans to lead the shift away from internal combustion engines toward widespread adoption of transit, cycling, and electric vehicles. This includes advocating for “transit-oriented” development and requiring new or renovated infrastructure to use low-carbon materials like CLT and sustainable electrification. To reduce Vehicle-Miles-Traveled (VMT), Daria will push for increased housing density near workplaces and schools, complemented by expanded bike pathways and efficient public transit. Furthermore, she will prioritize solar accessibility (SB 866), e-bike subsidies, and the preservation of biodiversity through increased permeable green space. Driven by a personal dedication to protect the planet for future generations, Daria Wrubel is ready to fight for a Berkeley that is safe, sustainable, and just.
