350 Bay Area Action is happy to endorse Cindy Abbott for Pacifica City Council, District 3. As a resident of a coastal community, Cindy sees the tangible impacts of the climate crisis every day. From wave overtopping and increasingly extreme storms to visible erosion and flooding, she understands that the root cause is our continued reliance on fossil fuels and greenhouse gases. These lived experiences fuel her determination to protect the environment and ensure a safer, more resilient future for Pacifica and the generations to come.

Cindy brings a long, proven track record of public service and environmental advocacy to the race for City Councilmember. She has served on:

• The Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Commission;
• The Library Advisory Committee;
• The City’s Fireworks Task Force;
• The Sea Level Rise Community Working Group; and
• The President of Pacifica’s Environmental Family of educational programs.

Just to name a few.

For many years, she has publicly opposed the widening of Highway One, recognizing that highway expansion only induces more traffic and greenhouse gas emissions. 

As City Councilmember, Cindy will champion the full implementation of the City of Pacifica Climate Action and Resilience Plan. She plans to focus on practical solutions like solar roof leasing and advocating for subsidies that make solar installation feasible for multi-family rentals
