350 Bay Area Action is proud to endorse Yudy Deng for Palo Alto City Council. Yudy brings a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and a practical, collaborative approach to addressing the challenges facing Palo Alto.

Yudy has made climate action a priority in her campaign for Palo Alto City Council. She supports measurable progress toward Palo Alto’s 2030 climate goals, including faster permitting and financing for solar and batteries, building electrification, expanded EV charging, and a cleaner electric grid. She also views housing as both a climate and equity issue and supports stronger electrification programs for multifamily housing.

She identifies transportation as a major source of emissions and supports reduced driving; expanded walking, biking, and public transit; Vision Zero; and transit-oriented development. Deng opposes expanding Palo Alto Airport into sensitive Baylands areas and supports managing data-center growth with clean electricity, transparency regarding energy and water use, and protection of community resources. Her environmental experience includes serving on the Palo Alto Parks & Recreation Commission, volunteering with Canopy and Grassroots Ecology, environmental education, and organizing Chinese American community participation in environmental activities.

Her endorsers include State Senator Josh Becker and Santa Clara Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga, both of whom were endorsed by 350 BAA in the past. Santa Clara Supervisors Susan Ellenberg and Otto Lee have also endorsed Yudy.  

Yudy wants Palo Alto to move more quickly on permits and building inspections—an issue that has driven up the cost of electrification in Palo Alto.
