Adam Loraine is an incumbent seeking re-election to the San Mateo City Council District 5 seat. Adam’s campaign centers around building a sustainable and equitable future for all San Mateo residents; he has more than delivered on these promises, and has “walked the talk” in his first term. His accomplishments in the last 4 years include:
- An approved solar carport project with Peninsula Clean Energy at Beresford Park, powering Beresford Recreation Center with renewable energy at no upfront cost and projecting to save $450,000 in energy costs
- Supported a new city ordinance that prohibits the use of gas-powered leaf blowers, helping to improve air quality and prevent noise pollution
- Championed the city’s new Sustainable Building Strategy, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing building energy use and facilitate healthier air in living spaces for San Mateans
His climate and environmental justice goals for the next term are clearly laid out. His top three priorities are to:
- Accelerate the implementation of our Complete Streets Bicycle & Pedestrian plans (including quick-build projects) to create a safer multimodal network.
- Partner with Westlight Energy and property owners of multifamily buildings to explore increasing EV charging access citywide, especially to renters.
- Advance and build upon San Mateo’s Sustainable Buildings Strategy.
