Jill Hoffman has served on the Sausalito City Council since November 2014, including two terms as mayor. She is an attorney and former U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps officer, and for her, climate action is “a defining responsibility of leadership.”Â
Jill’s decade on the Council is marked by a steady dedication to this leadership. She either led on or supported many of Sausalito’s climate initiatives. Some of those initiatives are:
- 2015 — Adoption of Sausalito’s first Climate Action Plan;
- 2020 — Establishment of the City’s Sustainability Commission;
- 2021 — While serving as mayor, Jill formed the Sea Level Rise Task Force, which within six months delivered a substantive report on sea-level rise impacts — the foundation of the City’s current Sea Level Rise Adaptation Plan;
- 2023 — Sausalito’s first-ever Resiliency and Sustainability Manager position;
- 2024 — Approval of a $1.9 million solar energy upgrade at one of the City’s largest properties;
- 2024–2025 — Installation of six City-owned electric vehicle charging stations at City Hall and Dunphy Park; and
- 2025 — Adoption of CalGreen Tier 1 Building Codes, setting stronger energy-efficiency and greenhouse-gas-reduction standards for new construction.
She currently serves as Sausalito’s representative on the Marin Clean Energy (MCE) Board of Directors (since September 2025), supporting MCE’s work to expand access to clean, reliable energy.
Jill and her husband bought their first electric car in 2018, still drive it, and today share one electric car, one electric bike, and one traditional bicycle between the two of them.
We are happy to endorse Jill in her re-election campaign.
