John Gioia is an ally of 350s Bay Area and Contra Costa Action, and we are happy to endorse him again. As John has been in office for well over 20 years in Contra Costa, our endorsement is more to let you know about what he does for us, the climate, and the environment.

John has served on the Air Resources Board, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board, the SF Bay Conservation and Development Commission and the SF Bay Restoration Authority. He has been a leader on issues of air and water quality, and has effectively advocated for emissions reduction, clean air, and strong regulations on industrial pollution. 

As Vice-Chair of the Bay Restoration Authority, he helped to pass a measure (which the Bay Area overwhelmingly voted for) raising $500 million to clean up, improve, and restore the Bay. 

Other examples of his leadership range from supporting building decarbonization to developing an urban community farm in North Richmond.
