350 Bay Area Action is happy to endorse Richard Adler in his run for a full term on the San Ramon City Council. He was appointed in January 2025 to fill the remainder of Mayor Mark Armstrong’s council term. 

San Ramon has made big moves forward in addressing climate, now ranking third in Contra Costa County with the Contra Costa Climate Leaders. While only on the council for less than two years, Richard has supported the passing of the city’s climate action plan, a serious plan that he says will serve as a guide in meeting our state and local climate targets. He supported the creation of San Ramon’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, where he now serves as a liaison between the committee and the council.

Adler has lived in San Ramon for nearly 30 years and raised two sons with his wife Melinda. He has been involved in the community, from little league and cub scouts for the kids to San Ramon’s rotary club and Senior Citizen Advisory Committee. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a law degree. 

Environmental sustainability is one of the three pillars of his campaign priorities, and he states that, “Guiding environmental policies through a Sustainability Advisory Committee and partnerships with groups like Sustainable San Ramon [will] promote green building, waste reduction, and resource conservation to protect the physical environment.”

Richard sits on many important committees for climate and environmental justice within the city council:

• Tri-Valley Affordable Housing Committee
• East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) & Water Issues
