350 Bay Area Action is very happy to endorse Bruce Ackerman for Fairfax. 

Bruce  is an engineer with decades of hands-on energy experience who has spent more than 30 years in Fairfax, with more than 20 years working with the town on a range of committees and commissions. He has been elected twice to the city council.  Throughout all of this, Bruce has worked to build the foundation for a clean energy future for Fairfax. 

Among many other roles, Bruce has:

• Served 10 years with the Fairfax General Plan Advisory Committee
• Served on the Planning Commission, the Pension Committee, and the Disaster Preparedness Committee
• Served as an alternate on the Marin Clean Energy Board
• Sat on the Marin Clean Energy Technical Committee

A Deep Climate Track Record

While working for and with the town, Bruce has: 

• Helped create the first Fairfax Climate Action Plan
• Formed and previously chaired the Climate Action Committee
• Supported the city’s change to LED lights to save energy and money
• Envisioned and worked on implementing a town microgrid, where he hopes to showcase the first bi-directional inverter on the Fairfax Pavilion and power the Pavilion as a Community Resilience Center. 

Why is this microgrid important?

“The town would be able to store extra energy from solar panels to use on town buildings at night, on cloudy days or when the area is experiencing a power outage. From 2021 to 2024, Fairfax had 13 power outages, lasting 3.5 hours on average.” – Marin Independent
