Tamisha Torres-Walker brings a community-organizing lens to her role as an Antioch City Councilmember, a position she has held since she was first elected in 2020. “I first ran for City Council because I believed Antioch’s families deserved leadership that would listen, take action, and fight for people too often left out of important decisions. Since then, I have brought the same determination I developed as a mother, grandmother, community organizer, and advocate into City Hall.”

Tamisha is best known for her tireless work to ensure that Antioch is a safe environment for families and children, highlighting violence prevention, youth development, and affordable housing. Her commitment to public safety and community empowerment extends to mitigating the effects of climate change and pollution, things that disproportionately impact low income and communities of color.

Representing District 1 on the City Council, Tamisha has supported the Healthy Homes initiative to make the transition from gas to electric appliances affordable and accessible for working families. She has worked to stop oil and gas drilling in the city, and to shut down a gas pipeline running through the community.

Running for reelection to the City Council, she says, “We have shown what is possible when residents organize, speak up, and demand something better. Now I am ready to build on that progress and continue moving Antioch forward.”
