Burlingame City Council District 3: Howard Wettan

Howard Wettan brings nearly two decades of civic engagement to his campaign to represent District 3 on the Burlingame City Council. Having served ten years on the city’s Traffic Safety and Parking Commission, and spent six chairing the school district’s Bond Oversight Committee, he has extensive experience marshaling municipal resources to secure Burlingame’s future and improve the day-to-day lives of its current residents.

Howard recognizes the role climate-change mitigation measures have to play in both endeavors, particularly in limiting the risk of climate-related natural disasters. As a city councilmember, Howard would seek to:

  •     Incentivize installation of EV charging stations in new and existing commercial buildings and multi-family dwellings, as well as homes undergoing renovations;
  •     Encourage further development of other alternative-energy infrastructure, including solar power, by implementing more aggressive REACH codes;
  •     Make Burlingame’s municipal vehicle fleet all-electric;
  •     Expand transit along the corridor between the Millbrae Transit Hub and downtown Burlingame; and
  •     Provide rebates and other forms of financial assistance to low-income households looking to install clean-energy appliances.

He’s led by example when it comes to embracing clean energy,

equipping his own home with solar panels and battery backup. With his history of service to his community and avowed passion for renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, 350 Bay Area Action is pleased to endorse Howard Wettan for Burlingame City Council and support his efforts to “ensure a safe and sustainable Burlingame for future generations.”
