Race around the Bay!

On January 8th the CA Legislature reconvenes and 350 Bay Area Action is here tracking deadlines and climate priorities, along with advocating for the best solutions. We also kick off the 2024 election cycle, by announcing our first round of climate focused candidates. To support this important work, we are hosting a virtual race around the Bay, to increase awareness of volunteer’s work, have some fun, and with your help raise the funds needed to support all these efforts.

Starting in Sacramento the route of 350 miles passes through a location near you and ends at the Chevron Headquarters in San Ramon.  Each virtual team competes to get around the route, by walking, biking, or rolling in your own area and logging your miles.

We have seen that elected officials can put forward strong climate focused legislation when we keep the pressure on them. Join us in the New Year with this fun activity.

How it works: 

1. Get your friends to sign up too, and we will allocate you to the same team.  Tell us how many miles you expect to cover over the month of January.
2. If you don’t have a ready-made team, don’t worry, we will allocate you to one based on your expected mile goal.
3. Find a friend to sponsor you at a rate per mile or a total amount for your efforts. Once signed up we will send you the link to set up your own personalized donations page, where your friends and family can sign up to sponsor you and help meet your goal.
4. Log your miles over January and early February, yes, it’s time-limited! Final day for logging miles is Feb 28^th!  If we can get 50 people doing 50 miles, it will be a great fundraising start for the New Year.
5. You can walk or roll in your own time, anywhere you want. It all counts – just log your miles.
6. We will send out updates each week, with fun facts from points of interest on the virtual route and of the progress of the participants as miles are accumulated.
7. Make it to San Ramon!  Stay active, start conversations about climate policy, raise funds and awareness for 350 Bay Area Action’s critical climate advocacy.

Win fun prizes (must reside in CA):

• 2 winners who raised the most funds will get a 350 Bay Area Action Fleece Jacket.
• The team that raises the most funds will receive a gift basket for each member.
