Oakland has led on many climate issues, yet still has more to do. Sheng Thao cosponsored a resolution requiring the city to consider climate change impacts in its plans. “As Mayor, I will continue this direction and ensure all investments are done with a green energy and equitable lens. I will work with trade unions and labor, who have endorsed me, to build a just transition.” This means “expanding Oakland’s already huge solar industry, bringing new, green, manufacturing jobs to our city, and using programs like the Youth Summer Jobs program to create pathways into public service work here in Oakland.”
