Igor is a long-time ally of 350 Bay Area Action, and we are very happy to endorse him for his re-election.
Igor has spent more than 20 years serving Berkeley, and climate has been at the heart of that work. He’s a statewide leader in the fight for clean energy and ending fossil fuels, best known as a defender of rooftop solar. He chairs the California Democratic Party, and he sits on the Sierra Club’s National Board of Directors, where he centers climate justice and housing security in the organization’s advocacy.
Igor has held a wide range of appointed and elected positions in Berkeley—on boards and commissions on housing, rent, labor, and budget—and he sits on the board of East Bay Community Energy.Â
By day, Igor works as Strategic Partnerships Director and Senior Policy Advisor at Reimagine Power, championing renewable energy solutions for multifamily housing and communities that have historically been left out of the clean-energy transition. On the City Council, he’s worked on safe streets for everyone. And he continues to work on moving Berkeley away from polluting, greenhouse-gas-emitting methane (natural gas) in new construction.
Igor’s plan for Berkeley includes expanding EV-charging infrastructure, localized solar, battery storage, and microgrids, with an emphasis on helping renters and everyone left behind in the clean-energy transition. He’s equally focused on making Berkeley safer and better connected for walking, biking, and transit, embracing climate solutions in how we get around.
Igor has the experience, the track record, and the vision to lead Berkeley toward a just and clean energy future.
