Brentwood City Council D3: Jovita Mendoza

350 Bay Area Action is happy to endorse Jovita Mendoza for re-election. Jovita’s an example of what people power can look like in a city. She tirelessly worked to galvanize hundreds of Brentwood citizens to stop new oil and gas drilling just 1000 ft from Brentwood homes on county land. This drilling would have not only polluted the air and possibly water but lowered property values.

Jovita, a working mom, had no intention of letting her and her children’s air become polluted with particulates outside their door. She has also worked to stop the renewal of a natural gas pipeline through the city in the face of concerns that have not been adequately addressed.

Jovita is a data analytics manager and a deeply engaged councilmember. She continues to work on making sure that development increases community benefits and affordable housing options. Before joining the council, Jovita was instrumental in the defeat of a measure (Measure L) that would have moved back Brentwood’s urban limit boundary.

Jovita opposes the recent reduction in reimbursement rates for solar power that users sell back to the grid, known as NEM 3.(NEM stands for net energy metering.) She states, “We have to promote renewable energy and transition to all-electric. We need to reverse NEM 3 back to NEM 2 to make it more affordable for people to purchase (solar) systems. We also need to fund solar for lower income families.”

Please vote for and support Jovita for Brentwood.
