350 Bay Area Action is proud to endorse Anky van Deursen for Los Altos City Council, District 2. With years of experience in local government and housing, Anky understands how cities can turn ambitious goals into practical policies that improve people’s lives. She recognizes that local government has a critical role to play in making climate action practical, equitable, and achievable for everyone.
Anky has identified building electrification as one of Los Altos’ most important climate priorities and supports the transition from gas to efficient electric heat pumps through rebates, education, streamlined permitting, and assistance for seniors and lower-income households. She also recognizes the vital connection between climate and transportation, supporting safer walking and bicycling routes—especially to schools—better connections to transit, and expanded EV charging.
We are particularly encouraged by Anky’s commitment to climate resilience and environmental justice. She would integrate climate preparedness into the City’s infrastructure and capital planning while protecting and expanding the urban tree canopy, improving water conservation and stormwater management, and reducing construction waste through deconstruction and reuse.
Just as importantly, Anky brings a practical, results-oriented approach. She understands that successful climate policy must consider affordability and fairness and should provide residents with practical alternatives and financial assistance when transitions are costly.
Her local-government experience, collaborative approach, and commitment to a more sustainable and equitable Los Altos make Anky van Deursen the kind of leader Los Altos needs on its city council. 350 Bay Area Action enthusiastically endorses Anky van Deursen for Los Altos City Council, District 2.
