350 Bay Area Action is proud to endorse Larry Lang for re-election to the Los Altos City Council, District 4. As an incumbent, Larry has demonstrated something we value highly in a public official: a willingness to listen, learn, and engage thoughtfully with people who bring different perspectives and expertise. His commitment to the environment is not new—he has been a Sierra Club life member since 2001.

We have been particularly impressed by Larry’s openness to learning about climate issues from our organization and his willingness to translate that learning into action. He voted for Los Altos’ latest round of Reach Codes, as well as an additional $1,000 rebate for Los Altos residents purchasing heat-pump water heaters—important steps toward reducing fossil fuel use in our buildings.

Larry understands that meaningful climate action also requires attention to the needs and concerns of residents. He has been receptive to the practical challenges that can accompany the transition away from fossil fuels and recognizes the importance of making climate solutions accessible and affordable.

Just as important, Larry has impressed us with the way he treats people—with respect, dignity, and genuine consideration. He is willing to hear people out, ask questions, and consider new information. That kind of openness and civility is especially valuable in local government.
