Curtis Aikens has a deep commitment to Marin County. As a resident of Novato for more than 40 years, and with a Master’s degree in Education from Dominican University in San Rafael, he is a familiar face with a strong record of community service. As a Marin County Human Rights Commissioner, he spearheaded the coalition that established the county’s first Sheriff’s Oversight Commission. His work on the Food Policy Council led to a comprehensive countywide food security plan to ensure that no family is left behind. From serving as Chef-in-Residence at the North Bay Children’s Center to his role as a Multi-Cultural Advisory Commissioner for the City of Novato, Curtis has consistently bridged the gap between policy and people, believing that leadership should be community-centered.
Curtis is a chef, and was one of the original Food Network hosts and a chef on ABC’s Good Morning America. He has spent decades teaching Americans that healthy eating should be simple, affordable and accessible.
As Supervisor, Curtis will focus on climate initiatives that include accelerating clean energy through streamlined solar permitting, microgrids, and expanded EV infrastructure to lower costs for every household. He also supports better public transit connections to SF and the North Bay. All of this is with an equity lens and the goal of fiscally responsible government. He writes, “If we do this right, clean energy becomes more than an environmental solution—it becomes a pathway to stronger, more equitable communities. And that is the future I want to help build in Marin County.”
We are pleased to endorse Curtis for Marin Board of Supervisors District 5.
