Sonoma Board of Supervisors District 4: Melanie Bagby

Melanie Bagby is a former Cloverdale mayor, two-term city councilmember, and longtime community advocate running for Sonoma County Board of Supervisors in District 4. A Sonoma County native and 25-year Cloverdale resident, Bagby brings more than two decades of experience as an IT professional and small-business owner, along with years of regional leadership on climate, transportation, and environmental issues.

Bagby has built a track record focused on climate resilience, clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure. She has served on the Sonoma County Transportation Authority/Regional Climate Protection Authority, chaired Sonoma Clean Power, participated in Climate Action 2020, and served on the Russian River Watershed Association and ZeroWaste Sonoma boards. Her campaign highlights work advancing equitable transit access, supporting clean energy for working families, and helping communities prepare for climate-driven disasters.

Her vision for Sonoma County centers on practical climate action and environmental stewardship. Bagby says she wants the county to be a leader on water security, climate resilience, disaster preparedness, clean energy, and sustainable transportation. She supports completing major transit and infrastructure projects, including SMART expansion to Cloverdale, while also strengthening mutual-aid networks and protecting natural resources during major transitions, like the removal of the Potter Valley Project dams. She has emphasized the importance of ensuring that underserved communities are included in county investments and climate planning.

Throughout her campaign, Bagby has framed climate and environmental justice as inseparable from affordability, public health, and economic opportunity for working families.
