Jonathan is an incumbent council member in Los Altos. He has played a key role in ensuring the adoption of Los Altos’ Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. The plan includes eight focus areas in transportation, energy, and resource conservation and numerous actions to meet the goal of making Los Altos carbon neutral by 2035.

Jonathan supports a phase-out of all natural gas use as soon as possible. This has included support in 2023 for the adoption of building reach codes in a closely divided council. In addition, Jonathan supports the Air Quality Management District’s “zero NOx” rules, which will phase out polluting methane gas appliances.

He is also working on increasing EV charging access, especially in multifamily buildings, and supports developing affordable multifamily, transit-oriented housing to ensure homes are near workplaces, reducing polluting commutes.
