Katie was born and raised in Palo Alto and started volunteering in her community at 14 years old. She’s passionate about making things better for those around her, and has worked with non-profits to help seniors, youth and women, end gun violence, and improve housing and transportation.
Katie is a challenger for an open seat on the Palo Alto City Council. She has served on the City of Palo Alto’s Human Relations Commission and its Climate Change Subcommittee. She has also been a member of the League of Women Voters’ Climate Change Committee and a volunteer with Canopy.
As a community organizer for the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, she has been dedicated to ensuring the creation of safer infrastructure for biking and walking. Katie supports the development of more housing so people can live near workplaces and avoid pollution-causing commutes. In addition, she wants to do more on sea-level rise adaptation and zero waste.
Katie supports a phase-out of all natural gas use as soon as possible and wants the City to establish a target for sunsetting the use of methane gas in its utility. She wants further action on decarbonization building codes and supports the Air Quality Management District’s “zero NOx” rules to phase out polluting methane gas appliances.
