Richmond City Council District 6 Candidate Claudia Jimenez

Claudia Jimenez, a council member for Richmond’s District 6 since 2020, is a licensed architect with a master’s degree in environmental planning. Claudia has used all this expertise in designing and improving public spaces, parks, community centers, and libraries in Richmond.

As a council member for the last four years, Claudia has voted for and led some great initiatives that resulted in Chevron’s offering a settlement of half a billion dollars for the injustices caused to low-income communities by the Chevron refinery.

Claudia’s policies are rooted in environmental justice, economic equity, and community resilience. Some of the initiatives Claudia has supported include:

  • A resolution calling on Contra Costa County to ban new permits for oil and gas drilling and phase out current oil and gas development activities and related infrastructure;
  • Co-sponsoring a resolution to support the development and implementation of a community-driven workforce development plan using the Green-Blue New Deal and Just Transition framework;
  • Supporting a 2021 electrification effort in Richmond to ban natural gas infrastructure in new construction; and
  • Securing a $1.2 million investment in traffic safety infrastructure.

350 Bay Area Action is excited to endorse Claudia Jimenez for re-election as a council member in Richmond’s District 6.
