San Anselmo Town Council At-Large Candidate Chantal Walker

As a founding and board member of the Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative (MEHC,) Chantel has been advocating for environmentally sustainable affordable housing for the last 20 years.

Some of the climate-forward strategies that Chantel would like to support include:

  • Housing and transportation linkages
  • Subsidies to promote green energy alternatives for people living below 80% of the median income in Marin
  • Bike lane expansion
  • Strategies to implement housing elements, including land banking, and family-focused and workforce-focused affordable housing development

Chantel would also like to take advantage of the Inflation Reduction Act to:

  • Support EV charging expansion
  • Have solar and battery backup systems at town facilities
  • Electrify municipal buildings
  • Phase out gas water heaters and replace gas furnaces with high efficiency heat pumps
  • Educate residents and businesses about IRA grants and funding

Given Chantel’s commitment to building environmentally sustainable affordable housing, and her desire to increase the use of more renewable sources of energy, 350 Bay Area Action is excited to endorse Chantel Walker for San Anselmo.
