Cindy Darling is a long-term resident of Walnut Creek. Love brought her to Walnut Creek and the wonderful community made her stay.
Cindy Darling’s love for Walnut Creek shines through the actions she has taken as a decade-long member on the planning commission and her four years on the city council. Environmental policies have always been on the forefront for Cindy.Â
As a member of the Walnut Creek planning commission, Cindy was involved in passing their Climate Action Plan in 2012.Â
As a board member of MCE (formerly Marin Clean Energy, but now active in several counties), Cindy has voted for, and helped implement a partnership with Richmond community members. They identified abandoned housing units, upgraded them with energy conservation retrofits, and made them available as affordable housing. She is also involved in a proposal for MCE to own more assets, rather than relying solely on contracts.Â
As Mayor Pro Tem of Walnut Creek, Cindy voted for a Climate Sustainability Action Plan in 2023. The plan outlines 21 strategies, such as:Â
- Retrofits to existing infrastructure
- Requiring new construction to go all-electric
- Phasing out gas-powered outdoor equipment
- Reducing vehicle miles traveled through careful planning
- Making electric vehicles more accessible
Given Cindy’s strong performance in office since 2020 and her unwavering commitment towards environmental policies, 350 Bay Area Action is excited to endorse Cindy Darling for re-election.Â
