Walnut Creek City Council: Laura Patch

350 Bay Area Action is happy to endorse Laura Patch for an at-large seat on the Walnut Creek City Council. Laura is a dedicated climate activist who currently works for the Sierra Club, developing digital tools to support and enable activism.

Her community and regional involvement and list of leadership positions is impressive. It includes:

  • Walnut Creek Transportation Commission
  • Contra Costa Young Democrats (External Vice President)
  • Diablo Valley Democratic Club (Secretary)
  • Member of the Board of Directors for the University of San Francisco’s Women in Leadership Program

She plans to continue Walnut Creek’s efforts to address climate change “by working with city committees to find ways we can produce more clean energy, improve public transportation to decrease traffic, and preserve our open spaces. I will work to add bike lanes, especially around downtown Walnut Creek and to/from BART stations. I would encourage clean transportation and sustainable buildings by increasing the number of EV charging stations, requiring electrification in new construction, and incentivizing commercial and residential landlords to add solar and/or wind power to their buildings.”

Laura will be a powerful addition to the council.
